New Heritage Acquisitions of 2024

En 2024, l’ACJC s’est portée acquéreuse d’un lot de 25 photographies historiques

In the summer of 1955, Pierre Gendron, a journalist and photographer, managed to capture a few precious moments from the Joliot-Curie family’s life during their usual summer stay in l’Arcouest.
The photographs were printed in several copies, yet the Joliot family was never aware of their existence. It was only after Pierre Gendron’s passing and the rediscovery of hidden treasures in an attic that his heirs reached out to the Curie Museum and the Association.

We are now able to marvel at Frédéric Joliot repairing a fishing net, Irène rowing during a boat ride, the couple unfolding the sails of their boat in the middle of their garden, or simply chatting outdoors.
These intimate and previously unseen moments are now preserved with care in our photographic collection.
