Traveling Exhibition “Frédéric and Irène Joliot-Curie, Between Science and Society”

A biographical exhibition in French about the Joliot-Curies for all audiences, from age 15 and up, consisting of 12 panels, to be installed in your institution…

Frédéric and Irène Joliot-Curie are renowned scientists recognized for their discovery of artificial radioactivity, which earned them a Nobel Prize in 1935. However, history has remembered not only their scientific work but also their social and political engagements, their struggles for fundamental research, for the prohibition of the use of atomic energy for military purposes, and for women’s rights. The Joliot-Curies are above all a testament to a time of change, both scientifically and socially.

The exhibition is organized with an introduction panel, 10 sections based on different chronological periods (1 panel per section), and finally a panel that presents scientific explanations of the Joliot-Curies’ work.

This exhibition is created by the Curie Museum and the Curie and Joliot-Curie Association (ACJC).
