Report on the round table discussion about Pierre and Marie Curie at Sceaux Town Hall

On November 22nd, the roundtable discussion commemorating the 130th anniversary of Pierre and Marie Curie’s marriage in Sceaux brought together nearly 75 participants. The three presentations revisited the couple’s scientific careers, their legacy, and the role of women in the history of science.

The discussions between speakers and the audience were further enriched by the presence of Hélène Langevin-Joliot, granddaughter of Pierre and Marie Curie, and other family members.

Before the conference, the public had the opportunity to view three archival displays, showcasing documents, some previously unseen, that traced the ties between the Curie family and Sceaux, from their wedding celebrated here in 1895 to their interment in the Panthéon.

An afternoon steeped in history, science, and memory!
